Frequently Asked Questions

What are the specialties of your practice?
(1) My primary specialty is spirituality and the mystical condition sometimes called ‘waking up’ or ‘enlightenment’ or becoming ‘Simply Awake’:

People who want to awaken to their total potential as both finite and infinite.  This includes people already at a high level of spiritual integration or awakening, who are having a difficult time integrating the spiritual and the material ‘worlds.’ For those not experienced in spirituality, this would mean a total integration of Consciousness, ego and the body, and living authentically within that integration.

(2) I also work with painful experiences (sometimes called trauma), anxiety and depression.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders and have helped many people live calmer, more present and focused lives.  I’ve worked with people suffering from PTSD and longer-term chronic developmental trauma, so I’m able to deal with the accompanying anxiety and depression quite thoroughly.

What other services do you provide?
I offer individual and group sessions for therapy and/or with an emphasis on the principles and eventually the experience of Enlightenment.

Letters, reports and invoices that need to be written are charged for by the quarter-hour at the rate of $100/hour.  I will no longer do these after May 1, 2021.

Please note: I no longer do drug and/or alcohol evaluations, nor do I work with clients who are involved in the criminal court system or on probation. I no longer keep detailed notes for use in filing long term Social Security Disability claims either; if you know that’s what you need, please find a more traditional therapist.

Do I really need help? I can usually handle creating and reaching my goals and solving my problems.
Everyone goes through challenging situations in life trying to reach their goals.  While you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you’ve faced, there’s nothing wrong with seeking expert support when you need it to reach the important goals. In fact, my services are often used by successful people who have worked hard to achieve material success and have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand.  That is something to be admired. Our relationship provides long-lasting benefits, support and provides you with someone who holds you accountable to yourself.
Why do people hire you and how do I know if your work is right for me?
People have many different motivations for working with a therapist and/or spiritual mentor.   Some may be going through a major life transition (divorce, death in the family, new job, etc.), or are not handling stressful circumstances well.  Some require the expertise of a consultant to help them solve a range of other issues such as feeling empty or despondent, anxiety, relationship problems, spiritual conflicts and creative blocks.
Does what we talk about remain confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is one of the most important components of our relationship.  These services require a high degree of trust with sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but in my office, unless YOU choose to disclose it elsewhere.  I have learned to be extremely discreet and secretive because it is what clients need, and what the laws of Pennsylvania and the United States demand.  I will give you a permission form if you want me to disclose confidential information to someone. By the ethical guidelines of my professions, I cannot release any information about our work without obtaining your written permission on that special form, unless you are or have been abusing a child or elder, or are in imminent danger of homicide or suicide.  This confidentiality holds in all situations except a direct court order by a judge (not just a subpoena), and even continues posthumously.
What is your schedule of fees?

When I do Therapy with you, I do accept most major insurance policies.  See the next paragraph.  The Covid-19 pandemic, and its major impairment of financial and economic conditions in this country has been the inspiration to return to a sliding scale if you have no insurance.  If you have lost insurance or employment, or are participating in an insurance network that I’m not participating in, there are now affordable options for you starting at $60 per hour, based on income verification, and sliding up to $200 per hour.  Pay what you can afford: basically it’s 5% of your annual income divided by 50 weeks as the session price.  (Or your annual family income multiplied by .001 = your weekly session fee.  So $60,000 x .001 = $60; $100,000 x .001 = $100; and $200,000 x .001 = $200.  Got it?).  I don’t go lower than $60 per hour, given that I have 20 years’ experience.  If you can’t afford weekly sessions, we can do bi-weekly or monthly sessions.

When I do Enlightenment Path work with you, I offer a unique gift/donation basis. This work is done entirely on a gift basis via your donation of: money, barter for goods, and barter for services. Because of licensing laws and ethical constraints, I can’t offer therapy on a gift basis. However, as of 1/1/21, I am offering my services towards ‘waking up’ or ‘enlightenment’ on a donation basis. The world economy is changing, people often have less currency (in whatever form), and don’t make enough in currency to meet regular expenses sometimes.  I’ve been eager to try a donation/gift/offering model to exchange individual and group sessions, webinars, seminars, satsangs, and blogposts on a donation/gift/offering basis. Some of my personal heroes such as Charles Eisenstein and Dr. Jacqueline Hobbs ( already work on this basis.

How donation/gift/offering works when we do Enlightenment Path work together.  I offer you one-hour sessions, or 1.5 hour group sessions on a gift basis.  In exchange for my gift to you, you make a donation/contribution/gift to me in recognition of the value of the work to you. A suggested basis for this gift/offering/contribution is this: you could offer one-thousandth of your annual salary for a one-hour individual session (so if you make $20,000/year you could offer $20 per hour etc.). You could also offer an equivalent gift or service that I need that takes you one hour to create or complete: gardening in my permaculture garden, preparing me a wholesome plant-based meal, technical help recording webinars, etc. (For clarification, I do not accept bodywork, physical therapy, chiropractic, massage or other personal-contact therapy for gifts/donations/offerings.) This donation/gift/offering exchange is a work-in-progress, check back for more details or ask questions!

Insurance coverage?

I am in-network with Aetna (and their affiliates Meritain and Trustmark) and United Healthcare (also All Savers,  Optum and United Behavioral Health) and accept their clients for one-hour sessions.  I am an “out-of-network” provider for all other insurance plans, and you will be subject to my sliding scale for your rates. You pay your standard insurance-mandated copay by cash, check, PayPal or credit card at the time of the session.

What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay me the day of our session via cash, check, PayPal or credit card.  Credit card and PayPal payments will include a 3% surcharge.  For all services, payment is expected on the date of servicenot a day or a week later.  I will not continue to work with you, if you don’t pay me on the date of service.
Office hours?
Monday through Friday:  Noon to 8PM.

No Saturday or Sunday hours are available.

How do I find your office?
The office is in the Buckingham Green shopping complex on Route 202 in Buckingham Township. The address is actually 4936 York Road, Suite 1300 D, in Buckingham, PA 18912. For U.S. mail, I’ll have P.O. Box 375, Holicong, PA 18928 at the Holicong post office. The phone number remains 267-454-8034 and email remains the same and you can contact me online here.

When you see Buckingham Green Center, drive straight back from the traffic light past Silverman Gallery (on your right) and the row of stores. You will find a standalone building, Buckingham Green Two, at the back of the parking lot.   There is a semi-private entrance at the right, back corner of the building (as you face the building).  Once in the door, my office is the first one on the right, Office D.    There are 10 parking spaces right by the door and more within easy walking distances (100 feet or so)!

No Obligation Introductory Consultation

An initial consultation is available, without obligation; the introductory consult is billed at the usual rates, as above.  After our meeting, we will decide if we’re a good fit and should continue working together. To book this in, contact me here.
